I’m sorry if this sounds overly paranoid, but I’d really appreciate some answers here. I don’t like the idea that I’ll be vulnerable without it but I also feel like I’m vulnerable with it. I do use YouTube on my laptop here and there which I do appreciate uBlock Origin for, but again, I mostly use my phone for YouTube. Raymone Hill, maker of the popular content blocker uBlock Origin, discovered another fake extension in the store that was based on an earlier version of uBlock Origin and manipulated website content to inject content on websites the user visited. I’m also starting to think I don’t really need it in the first place because the only thing I really use my laptop for is Google docs, gaming, and Discord. And well, if I don’t trust something about the extension, surely I should think twice about using it, right? I found the privacy policy and saw that they don’t collect any data which did help quell some of my fears, but at the same time, I don’t really jive with how under permissions it says that it can “change privacy related settings”. My main concern, if you couldn’t tell, is whether it collects your data like passwords or not. I know this question probably gets asked a million times on this sub, but is uBlock Origin safe? I’ve been using it for a while now and haven’t thought anything of it, but at this current moment I’m like a click away from uninstalling it and changing all my passwords out of paranoia.
